Jack Lanhardt is an Award-Winning composer, arranger, and saxophonist in the Los Angeles area, having recently finished a Master’s Degree in Jazz Composition at the University of North Texas, where he studied with Grammy-Nominated Composer, Rich DeRosa.
Jack has had the incredible opportunity to have his compositions and arrangements be performed and recorded by the Grammy-Nominated One O’ Clock Lab Band, and has had the chance to write arrangements for the likes of Lyle Lovett, Michael League, Miguel Zenón, Vincent Herring, Helen Sung, and many more. His biggest composition influences are the likes of Michael Giacchino, Maria Schneider, Rich DeRosa, Gustav Mahler, and Maurice Ravel. Jack is also currently the copyist for the music educational company, Jazz Lesson Videos, where he has worked since July 2024.
Recently, Jack has received national recognition for his compositions and arrangements, having received the 2023 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award, as well as the 2024 and 2025 Downbeat Student Music Award for Jazz Arrangement - Big Band.
As a saxophonist, Jack has had the wonderful opportunity to play baritone sax in the Grammy-Nominated One O’ Clock Lab Band during his undergraduate degree at UNT, where he got to share the stage with the likes of Chris Potter, Brad Leali, Miguel Zenón, Wycliffe Gordon, Ignacio Berroa and Arturo Sandoval. He has also professionally recorded with artists such as Wayne Bergeron, Alex Iles, Rob Schaer, Sal Lozano, Rob Parton, and Frederick Vogler.
